As we launch the maiden issue of the Florentina, hear from Councillor Donna Stimson, Cabinet Member for Climate Action and Sustainability in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.
A study last year by London’s Natural History Museum revealed that the UK is one of the most nature depleted countries in Europe. To attempt to rectify this, the government’s latest environment policies are in the main bold, and could shape a country where farmers, landowners, businesses, and environmentalists work together. We have a small window to create connections and encourage behaviour change that show that a sustainable United Kingdom is within reach, offering exciting jobs, a healthier lifestyle, and more compassionate and connected communities. I believe this young Florentina team are well placed to encourage the change for the better.

In the Royal Borough we have signed up to setting aside 30% of our land for nature. To do this we will be working closely with all stakeholders. We hope to continue to work with you on this journey and witness your successes though the Florentina.
